ABOUT US

Our Story

We are Leolani Ukulele, a small, family-owned company based in Honolulu, Hawaii. As legal immigrants who came to this country with a dream, we’ve worked tirelessly to build something special—a ukulele company that blends passion, craftsmanship, and the spirit of Aloha. Our journey began with a simple goal: to create more than just a souvenir, but a finely tuned musical instrument that anyone can enjoy. Today, we’re proud to offer ukulele of uncompromising quality, made affordable so that friends, family, and ohana everywhere can share in the joy of music.

Our Mission

  • Make Great Stuff for You: We pour our hearts into every ukulele we craft.

  • Treat Our Customers as Ohana: You’re not just a buyer—you’re family.

  • Sustainability: We strive to honor the earth that inspires us.

  • Prioritize Customer Happiness: Your satisfaction drives everything we do.

  • Be Ambassadors of Aloha: We share the warmth and spirit of Hawaii with the world.

Our Design Philosophy

Inspired by Hawaii’s rich culture and the legacy of its homegrown ukulele makers, we design our Leolani and Kumu ukulele with love and care. For us, making ukulele is pure fun—and we believe that simplicity is the key to elegance. We don’t chase perfection, because we know it’s the imperfections that make each instrument unique. Instead, we focus on constant improvement, refining our methods to enhance both form and function. Every new design or series is a chance to listen to you—our customers—and create something you’ll treasure forever. Oh, and did we mention? Making ukulele is fun!

SUSTAINABILITY

We absolutely love living in Hawaii! The warm sun, gentle Tradewinds, and refreshing tropical rain are part of our everyday life. While it may seem tough, embracing nature is integral to our Hawaiian culture, and we prioritize sustainable practices when sourcing wood for our ukuleles. Our KUMU features the exquisite Hawaiian Koa wood, a treasure that grows exclusively in Hawaii. To ensure future can enjoy Koa wood, we collaborate closely with dedicated tree farmers who focus on reforestation and responsible harvesting. Many of these farmers live sustainably the grid, passionately nurturing Koa trees, and some even plant 50 new trees for every one they harvest. We’re confident that Koa wood will thrive long into the future, and that brings us immense joy!
